Pupil's academic progress is monitored, assessed and recorded in many ways.
Assessment for learning and the close scrutiny of children's work is an integral part of the learning process. Additional to work done in class, pupils are set preps for completion during the week. Subject teachers and tutors are in regular contact about the progress of pupils in the school and parents will be made aware of any major concerns. Pupils are formally tested twice in the academic year, in late November and again in early June.
Grade sheets are available to parents four times each year. In the Autumn Term, the first set of grades is available at Half Term, which is followed by a full set of exam results and reports in every subject following the November test cycle. In the Spring Term it is only the Year 8 pupils who sit Common Entrance mock examinations. For all other pupils there are two sets of grades. In the Summer term the fourth grade listing is sent home at Half Term, with another full set of comprehensive subject reports at the end of the academic year.
