Windsor Castle towers over St George’s - a striking example of its ancient strategic importance. This is an awe-inspiring place to study History, and we take full advantage of the central role it has played in our nation’s past.
In Years 1-5, our students follow diverse and exciting History courses ranging from the Aztecs to the life on the Home Front in World War Two. In Year 6 we begin a study of English History that will develop from the Norman Conquest to the emergence of Britain as a colonial power. For Common Entrance our pupils study The Making of the United Kingdom: 1485-1750. We focus first on developing the skills to write accurate, well balanced narrative essays, before moving on to source analysis.
Our pupils leave St George's equipped with an understanding of the history of Britain and its place within the wider world. They have developed skills in discussion, extended writing and source analysis that will be an excellent foundation for their academic studies in the future.
