Children at St George's are fortunate to be able to glance up at a medieval castle and they are encouraged to recognise the awe inspiring surroundings in which they work.
The History department makes full use of the castle and the town of Windsor throughout each of the year groups. Frequent field trips ensure that pupils enjoy living history and work on The Normans, the middle ages, The Tudors, The Stuarts, The Georgians and The Victorians are all reinforced by visual aids.
In years 1-6 children follow diverse and exiting history courses ranging from The Aztecs to World War II. In years 7 and 8 pupils follow the Common Entrance syllabus Britain 1485-1700 (The Early Modern Age). At this point pupils are able to evaluate historical sources and are adept at writing analytical work on past monarchs.
All pupils leave St George's ready for the challenges of senior school History and find themselves very well prepared for future public exam courses.
