Windsor Castle towers over St George’s – the steep cliff which rises from the playground to the battlements are striking example of its ancient strategic importance. This is an awe-inspiring place to study British History, and we take full advantage of the central role it has played in our nation’s past.
In Years 1-4, our students follow diverse and exciting history courses ranging from The Aztecs to the life on the Home Front in World War Two.
In Year 6 we study life in Mediaeval England, leading in to the Common Entrance syllabus The Making of the United Kingdom: 1485-1750 in Years 7 and 8. We focus first on developing the skills to write accurate, well balanced narrative essays, before moving on to source analysis. Our pupils leave St George's with an excellent grounding in the History of Britain and the wider world, and ready for the demands of GCSE and A Level History at their future schools.
