Effective Practice

The Director of Music and the music staff encourage pupils to work positively and enthusiastically in their preparation between music lessons. The instrumental teacher writes notes into the practice Notebook and children and their parents are asked to refer to these notes between music lessons. Learning an instrument is a real challenge, but there is a great sense of achievement for pupils when they make progress.

There are displays about Effective Music practice in several places in both the Main School and in Old Bank House, by way of challenging and encouraging best practice!

TIP

Remember to work on very small sections when learning new music. You need to go over a few bars several times before moving on to the next new material.
