"Normally the children are about six years
old and I think at that point they dont realise that
they can sing or whether they ought to be singing or what
the singing really is all about. My eldest son didnt
really understand what the choir was all about. The younger
one understood a little bit more because his elder brother
had been there, but they both did voice trials at six and
came into the choir at seven." - St George's parent
I can remember it was my best friends
birthday and I had to leave his birthday party early to go
and have this voice trial. I sang a piece on my own and then
they asked me a few questions and then I went back to the
big room where we were waiting. Then they asked me to sing
a duet with another boy to see if we were that good. And then
they said I was in! - Edward
"They do a little bit of a reading and
a maths test. They are tested on their musical instruments,
if they already play something, and also they sing a piece.
If they can read out of the Hymnal they do that as well. Then
you get told straight away or maybe the next day." -
