| help | Seeing
higher quality movies
If you want to see the highest quality movies
do the following steps.
Step 1
Click on the button at the far right of the
quicktime bar (see below). Select Plug-in Settings
from the pop-up menu.

Step 2
The Plug-in Settings window will open (see
below). Choose Connection Speed from the buttons
on the right.

Step 3
The Quicktime Settings window will open (see
below). It should be displaying the type of internet connection
you have - for example if you use a 56k modem the
button will be checked as in the example below.

Step 4
To see the highest quality movie, which
will take longer to download, choose the 112k setting
(see below)
If you normally connect at 28.8 or 33.6k and
you would like to see a higher quality movie choose
56k. This will load a smaller movie than the 112k setting
- read the final section on this page to see what that does
to the content.
Please note: Checking T1 or Intranet/LAN
will load the same movie as selecting 112k, because the
highest speed we have catered for is 112k.

Step 5
Close the Quicktime settings window.
Step 6
Return to your web browser. When you refresh
the page, or go to a new page, the larger movie will now
download.
Step 7 (optional)
You might want to change your settings back
to normal when you have finished viewing this site. Follow
the instructions above, or use the instructions for speeding
up the movie downloads.
What content do I see at different speed
connections?
112k & faster - This is the highest
quality setting - the pictures are larger and the sound
is high quality. Typical file size - about 600k
56k - The pictures are smaller and
the sound is compressed to stream over a modem connection
(it sounds a little tinny). Typical file size - about 200k
28k & slower - Instead of multiple
photographs there is a single image. The sound is compressed
the same as for a 56k modem, but the soundtrack has been
re-edited to make it much shorter. Typical file size - about
70k
