| help | The movies
are taking too long to download
To speed up the download time do the following
steps.
Step 1
Click on the button at the far right of the
quicktime bar (see below). Select Plug-in Settings
from the pop-up menu.

Step 2
The Plug-in Settings window will open (see
below). Choose Connection Speed from the buttons
on the right.

Step 3
The Quicktime Settings window will open (see
below). It should be displaying the type of internet connection
you have - for example if you use a 56k modem the
button will be checked as in the example below.

Step 4
To speed up the download time choose
a slower setting - for example if you normally connect
at 56k, choose 28.8. If you normally connect at 112k choose
56k. This will load a smaller movie - read the final section
on this page to see what that does to the content.
Please note: Checking 14.4 will load
the same movie as selecting 28.8, because the slowest speed
we have catered for is 28.8.

Step 5
Close the Quicktime settings window.
Step 6
Return to your web browser. When you refresh
the page, or go to a new page, the smaller movie will now
download.
Step 7 (optional)
You might want to change your settings back
to normal when you have finished viewing this site. Follow
the instructions above, or use the instructions for loading
a higher quality movie.
What content do I see at different speed
connections?
112k & faster - This is the highest
quality setting - the pictures are larger and the sound
is high quality. Typical file size - about 600k
56k - The pictures are smaller and
the sound is compressed to stream over a modem connection
(it sounds a little tinny). Typical file size - about 200k
28k & slower - Instead of multiple
photographs there is a single image. The sound is compressed
the same as for a 56k modem, but the soundtrack has been
re-edited to make it much shorter. Typical file size - about
70k
