You go into the choir for one year or less
as a probationary year where the Choir-master sees how well you're doing and you get trained to be a chorister.
If you're doing well you get surpliced which is where you
get a white robe called the surplice. It means that you are
a full member of the choir. About six people a year get surpliced.
"Even having been accepted and become a full chorister
there is scope to leave if it's really not for you. It's been
fantastic - it has been hard work particularly for our son
obviously but for us as well, but it's opened up avenues that
we didn't know existed. On balance it's been absolutely fantastic."
- St George's parent
