At St George's the traditional preparatory school sports of Football, Rugby, Cricket, Netball and Rounders form the Games Curriculum.
The Department ensures that every pupil who is keen to play for a team will have an opportunity to represent the School at least once during the term. All pupils are expected to represent their House in netball, rounders, football, cross country and on Sports Day and the majority of pupils also compete in Inter-House swimming.
All pupils in Years 3-8 have three Games sessions per week. Two of the sessions are double periods (70 minutes) and one is a triple session (105 minutes) which is the main fixtures day. Fixtures for Senior pupils predominantly take place on Wednesday afternoons and Junior fixtures are on Friday afternoons.
Teams are also entered into tournaments many of which take place on Saturdays.
The objectives in the teaching of games are to provide the knowledge, skills and understanding for every pupil to be involved, and where possible, to represent the School at sport in competitive fixtures and Inter-House matches.
